Glad OU didn't have 8 players arrested this  year ala Georgia or Stoops would have already been crucified.

Hell a 3rd grade idiot knows the SEC is a talented conference. But heads above everyone else maybe  a stretch.

Being splashed on CBS every saturday and ESPN sat. nite primetime doesn't hurt. Bowl games aren't a good indicator of conference strength IMO but Mizzous dismantling of Arkansas says there isn't a lot of difference betweeen the SEC and Big XII.

Please tell me who the 8 players arrested were? 8 players were disciplined, not arrested.

I don't think the SEC is "heads above everybody else", possibly slightly ahead of the B12 but not light years. The conference does have good depth despite Arkansas falling apart last year and Florida

losing to Michigan (still have not figured that one out). For every game like Arkansas-Missouri there is an Alabama-Clemson. What is more interresting is Ole Miss (probably the worse team in the SEC) playing #20 Wake on the road and losing by a field goal with 20 seconds left and Vandy playing well on the road. We have good and bad teams in conference but out 2nd tier teams are hell to beat on the road. When you play a team like South Carolina who by all rights should just give up on football some years and they play every game in front of 90,000 fans and fight all the way - its just plain hard to beat them at home. I'm sure in the B-12 you have equivalent teams but it seems all the SEC teams put up a good fight against each other.

SEC, SEC!!! please read and try to give me your best rebuttle.  Thank you ESPN!

Of the ten teams that play the most games against non-BCS opponents, SEC schools make up HALF of those teams.  Even more remarkable, those five SEC teams (LSU, Arkansas, Miss, Miss St, Alabama) are a combined 7-21 (!) in non-conference games against BCS schools.

Pretty amazing list - this is worth a read.  I continue to lose respect for the SEC.

Umm...I'm having trouble figuring out what you're trying to say.  Are these questions or statements?

If their questions, the answers are 1) Yes, and 2) No.

If they are statements, then I agree with part of the first one (Florida lost 4 games) and I disagree with the second one - Kentucky should not have played OSU...

Is that like stream of consciousness or something, like Ulysses?

The Tigers, winners of two of the past five BCS national championships, have played just three road nonconference games against BCS teams in the past 10 seasons

jonnyjam - You really should at least pick a team, otherwise you just sound like another conference hater.

I think you've pointed out something very interesting though.  Apparently, a team can get to and win the BCS NC game without playing a ton of non-conference road games.  Now look at it from the point of view of the football team...what's the point in scheduling a lot of nonconference road games?  What does it buy them?

Though I'm sure the teams mentioned in the article would love to please you and other posters, I imagine their primary goal is to win and get a shot at a national title.  LSU was able to do that without playing a huge number of nonconference road games.  So tell me, why should they schedule more of them?
